How do you solve the blank page problem?

Just remove the blank page. Instead of having that flicking cursor taunting you, that empty white void staring back at you, just talk.

Speech to text (STT) allows you to blurt out your thoughts. The limitless possibility is still there, but there’s no visual cue to remind you.

I’ve found that the new batch of AI stt tools help me get a quick messy draft together without any second guessing or pausing to think. Talking without seeing the text on screen (like some older dictation apps would do) allows me to keep going without overthinking. This means I can’t edit as I write, because I can’t see the words in front of me.

"thoughts" are quickly written ideas, observations and opinions. they're rarely edited as they're just a way for me to get something out there easily - like social media posts.

so sometimes there will be mistakes. please let me know at hello@thisismattsmith.com if you spot any. for my more polished work, check out my writing.
